LAN

Local Area Network , A computer network technology that is designed to connect computers that are separated by a short distance , usually the same building or floor of a building.

A LAN can be connected to the Internet and can also be configured as an intranet. However, one LAN can be connected to other LANs over any distance via telephone lines and radio waves.

A system of LANs connected in this way is called a wide-area network (WAN).
