Windows NT is Microsoft's 32-bit operating system developed from what was originally intended to be OS/2 3.0 before Microsoft and IBM ceased joint development of OS/2.

Windows NT supports preemptive multitasking.

There are actually two versions of Windows NT:
  • Windows NT Server, designed to act as a server in networks
  • Windows NT Workstation for stand-alone or client workstations.
